SUMMARY

At 2:49pm on April 15, 2013, at the annual Boston Marathon in Boston, Massachusetts, two explosive devices detonated near the finish line of the race. Three people are alleged to have died in this event, and several hundred are alleged to have been injured. Four days later, on April 19th, a policeman allegedly identified the two men, brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, whom they suspected of the crime and a shootout ensued. Dzhokhar allegedly ran over Tamerlan and police while escaping in an SUV the brothers had stolen. Later that evening, a Watertown resident allegedly called the police to report a man lying in a pool of blood in his parked boat. Police allegedly arrived and ended up in an hour-long shootout with the person in the boat (Dzhokhar), who was firing from under the tarp covering it. Police allegedly took him into custody after rushing the boat. After a 26-day trial in which he had pled "not guilty" to the 30 federal charges levied against him, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was sentenced to death, and is allegedly currently being held, unusually, in the ADX Florence federal supermax prison in Colorado.
